Chair of Economics and Ethics.

After completing his Ph.D. in Economics at University of California, Los Angeles, he has held various tenured and visiting positions, including as Professor of Economics at Loyola Marymount University, Erik Malmsten Guest Professor at the University of Gothenburg, Guest Researcher at the Centre for Equality, Social Organization and Performance and the Centre for the Study of Mind in Nature at the University of Oslo, and Visiting Foreign Scholar at the Institute for Social and Economic Research at Osaka University.

His research interests include Economics and Ethics, Behavioral Economics, Experimental Economics, Public Economics and Political Economy with a focus on issues of economic justice, altruism, happiness, cooperation, and consent. 

James Konow has published in such journals as the American Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Literature, the Journal of Public Economics, Social Choice and Welfare, and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and has served as Editor of Economics and Philosophy and as Associate Editor of Social Justice Research.
